Description:
This position is responsible for the generation of new chemicals for the evaluation as drug candidates by Avid Radiopharmaceuticals. The individual will conduct standard work as synthetic or medicinal chemist, which involves the design of new structures, the design of an appropriate synthetic pathway for the generation of the new molecule, as well as the actual synthesis of the new molecule and delivery of it in pure form for biological evaluation. Participation in and intellectual contributions to drug discovery research projects are expected.
Duties include:
• Design of synthetic pathways and synthesis of new chemical compounds.
• Exploration of structure-activity relationships in chemical series.
• Design of synthetic pathway for radioactive derivatives.
• Documentation of chemical processes and controls;
• Generation of technical reports
• Maintenance of the chemistry laboratory, corresponding equipment and purchase of equipment and reagents as necessary
Requirements:
• Ph.D. degree in chemistry with experience in synthetic or medicinal organic chemistry
• Experience in organic chemistry applied to small molecule labeling is highly desirable
• Industry experience as synthetic or medicinal chemist desired
• Ability to work independently in a highly focused manner
• Good organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
